Hi, I’m Christie. Animal lover, amateur gardener, day dreamer and aspiring writer. I live in Brisbane with my sister Heather and our foster dog, Billy the American Staffy x Labrador.
I’ve created this website in honour of our beloved Peppa, who left us on April 23rd, 2021 aged 19 and a half.
The Dog-Blog is a chronicle of my journey as a dog foster carer and a record of the development and progress of the dogs in my care. In the “Brace Yourself” blog, I will be writing about my experiences as a person living with mental illness and physical disability.
I will also be sharing my creative writing on the website.
This portrait of Peppa was a gift from our Dad who had it commissioned by his friend Kay Knights. It is a beautiful representation of our precious girl, from the glint in her eyes, to the curl of her beard and the one-foot-forward stance. It sits in pride of place beside Peppa’s ashes.
Kay Knights is a contemporary Australian artist who lives and works on the east coast of Australia in the coastal town of Lennox Head in northern New South Wales. Working mostly in oils, she creates stunning pieces of abstract landscapes, overlaid with flowers and shapes. Combined with a luxurious palette of deep and vibrant colours, her pieces have a depth that is intriguing and enchanting. She also does work on commission painting pet portraits.
